Sample Requirements:
SST tube
Purpose:
Evaluates thyroid function and hormone regulation. TSH is the primary screening test for hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. Free T4 and Free T3 help in diagnosing thyroid disorders and monitoring therapy. Abnormal levels may indicate thyroiditis, Graves' disease, or Hashimoto's.
Reference Range:
TSH: 0.45–4.5 µIU/mL; Free T4: 0.8–1.8 ng/dL; Free T3: 2.3–4.2 pg/mL. TSH >4.5 suggests hypothyroidism, <0.45 suggests hyperthyroidism. Abnormal FT4/FT3 help further classify the disorder.
