Sample Requirements:
Fasting, SST tube
Purpose:
Combines lipid panel with hs-CRP, a marker of inflammation, and homocysteine, a risk factor for atherosclerosis. Provides a more detailed cardiovascular risk assessment than lipids alone. Useful in preventive cardiology.
Reference Range:
CRP (hs): <1.0 mg/L (low risk), 1.0–3.0 (moderate), >3.0 (high); Homocysteine: 4.4–10.8 µmol/L. Elevated CRP or homocysteine increases cardiovascular event risk.
